‘Goosebumps’ director to lead Dungeons & Dragons reboot

Dungeons & Dragons

Variety reports Goosebumps director Rob Letterman will be helming a new D&D movie for Warner Bros.

The film marks the second go-round for the project following the 2001 version which underwhelmed at the box office.

That is a significant understatement.

Variety’s Mo Ryan on this season’s TV cancellations

test patternVariety’s Mo Ryan is my favorite TV writer and, as usual, she nails the state of TV post the slew of cancellations and announcements this week. She ends nail-on-head with this line:

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” is gone but “Dr. Ken” lives on. Every year, we get reminders that this is a business designed to break your heart.

First pics of Fox’s Rocky Horror released

EW has the first look at the revamped Rocky Horror Picture Show coming to Fox this fall. I’m loving Tim Curry as the narrator (“I would like, if I may…”), but everyone else looks too young and…clean. They all look like they stumbled out of a Halloween party.

A lot went down at the networks yesterday. Who will see the fall and who’s hitting up their agent?

The Hollywood Reporter breaks it all down by network.

They’re back at it again, this time with a version of the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer. Take a look.

Create your own Simpsons GIFs via Frinkiac

Homer Simpson Disco Stu dancing

The world’s greatest website for finding images from The Simpsons just got better.

Frinkiac is in beta for GIF creations – you can make 4-second clips from your favorite scenes. The tough part is remembering the dialogue from the scene (since that’s what the site searches for), but once you’ve found the correct episode, then creating the GIF is relatively simple from there. You can still create a meme with text from the show, but we prefer just creating the little animations.

Supergirl gets Season 2 and a new network

supergirl

The CW said it wasn’t going to happen — even though the recent Supergirl-Flash crossover was a ratings winner — but now it’s official: Supergirl gets a Season 2 and it’s on The CW, Variety reports. Could the network be looking for a female PR bump after getting a beating following the murder of Lexa on The 100? They wouldn’t pick up an entire series just for PR, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

First trailer for Assassin’s Creed movie hits the web

Assassins Creed movie

CREDIT: 20th Century Fox

Movies based on video games have traditionally not done well, but happily Hollywood keeps making them in the hopes that one will become a blockbuster or a franchise “tent pole” series.

The latest through the gate is “Assassin’s Creed”, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard – one Acadamy Award nominee (Fassbender) and one winner (Cotillard). The first trailer dropped last night, and it hits all the right notes in showing things that made the video game series fun to play.

LEGO Club Magazine: A Cool Free Perk

LEGO Club Magazine

If you — or your kids — are LEGO fans, LEGO Club magazine is a free perk you should be taking advantage of.

At left is the May/June issue, which arrived in our mailbox this week. There are puzzles, comics, quizzes, a poster, and giveaways, all geared toward the 5- to 9-year-old fan, and usually themed around the latest set releases. And, best of all, it’s free.

Will it inspire the kids bug you to buy new LEGO sets? Yes. But they always do, anyway, and this way they get some cool mail, just for them, several times a year.

Aquabot: The Most Fun Water Bottle You’ve Ever Seen

Do you need another water bottle? No. Do you need the Aquabot so you can spray your unsuspecting kids? Yes. The Aquabot top turns a water bottle into a mister or, even better, a water gun you can use to nail the kids from 25 feet. And you can, you know, get a drink, too. You can buy the top and a bottle, or just the top, which fits Nalgene, Camelbak, and other wide-mouth bottles.

Orange Is The New Black Season 4 Trailer Is Out

The new Orange Is The New Black Season 4 trailer is out and it’s dark. There are some good one-liners and Taystee is killing it as always, but, man everyone looks pained (beyond the whole “I’m in prison” thing). Season 4 will be released on June 17 and there are at least three more years of Litchfield on the way.
