Latest trailer for Steven Spielberg’s ‘The BFG’ is out

The BFG screen shot
In case you were busy over the weekend doing fun stuff with the kids:

The second official trailer for Disney’s “The BFG” came out, wowing us with its cool special effects and typical Disney magic. Take a look:

Based on the children’s book written by Roald Dahl in 1982, the BFG stands for “Big Friendly Giant”, and tells the story of a young girl and a Giant (played by Mark Rylance), who then shows her the world of the Giant Country.

As a child, my introduction to Roald Dahl started and stopped with “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (and the 1971 movie with Gene Wilder), although I do remember my 2nd grade teacher reading us the sequel, “Charlie and the Glass Elevator”. My only experience with “BFG” was that it stood for “Big Freaking (umm, use your imagination here) Gun” in either Doom or Quake or other first-person shooters.

But my two older kids are familiar with the story, as they’ve experienced it in their own schools. The adventure part should keep my son entertained, and a female lead character should also appeal to the girls. Plus, with the creative weight of Disney and Director Steven Spielberg behind this, we’re likely going to be hitting the theaters around July 1 to catch this.

Anyone else out there expecting to see this when it comes out?
