Sneak Peek: Poe Dameron in LEGO Force Awakens clip

As part of the promotion for the new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens video game (coming out on June 28), we were given a sneak peek of the new “character vignettes” videos. In this first one, which launched today, we get to see everyone’s favorite Resistance pilot, Poe Dameron, take on the First Order:

Watch the Bob’s Burgers Live cast in this fake movie trailer

OK, so we are TOTALLY late to the party that is Bob’s Burgers, now in its sixth¬†season and about to celebrate its 100th episode. I know, I know, feel free to mock us if you’ve been on board since the beginning. In my defense, six years ago we were pretty busy with two toddlers and a newborn.

As part of the celebration of 100 episodes, the Bob’s Burgers team has released this video, “Bobs Burgers Live – The Movie”, a fake movie trailer about the “Bob’s Burgers Live!” tour they recently completed. It’s a bit NSFW, but it’s cool to see the people who do the voices and what they really look like (in case you weren’t aware of it).

Finding Dory Tsum Tsum collection now available

We don’t really need another collecting hobby in our household, but two of the kids are REALLY into the Disney Tsum Tsum plush “animals.” My biggest question is how these things are pronounced – we say it like “Zoom Zoom” (think Mazda commercial), but I was in a store the other day and heard someone call them “Sum Sum” (like “The Sum of All Fears”). I just hope this doesn’t turn into a GIF vs. JIF debate.

The latest versions to come out are Finding Dory plushes, which makes sense since the new movie is coming out next month, and you want your kids to have their favorite characters for when they go see the movie. The collection is available online at the Disney Store, and, one assumes, at Disney retail locations.

Could Buckaroo Banzai be heading to TV?

One of the more bizarre movies of the 1980s, Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, never caught on with geeks as much as other films from that time period (Back to the Future, Robocop, etc.), but it did become a cult favorite among some of us.

Now comes news that Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats) would like to develop Buckaroo Banzai into a TV series.

One of my favorite YouTube channels is Toscano Bricks, which lovingly recreates popular movie trailers in LEGO form.

They’re back at it again, this time with a version of the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer. Take a look.

Create your own Simpsons GIFs via Frinkiac

Homer Simpson Disco Stu dancing

The world’s greatest website for finding images from The Simpsons just got better.

Frinkiac is in beta for GIF creations – you can make 4-second clips from your favorite scenes. The tough part is remembering the dialogue from the scene (since that’s what the site searches for), but once you’ve found the correct episode, then creating the GIF is relatively simple from there. You can still create a meme with text from the show, but we prefer just creating the little animations.

First trailer for Assassin’s Creed movie hits the web

Assassins Creed movie

Movies based on video games have traditionally not done well, but happily Hollywood keeps making them in the hopes that one will become a blockbuster or a franchise “tent pole” series.

The latest through the gate is “Assassin’s Creed”, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard – one Acadamy Award nominee (Fassbender) and one winner (Cotillard). The first trailer dropped last night, and it hits all the right notes in showing things that made the video game series fun to play.

Farewell, Disney Infinity

Disney Infinity

Well, that was some surprising news today.

After three versions and a whole lot of action figures, Disney Infinity is kaput. In a blog post on the Disney Interactive website, John Blackburn (SVP & GM of Disney Infinity) announced the news.

Our goal for Disney Infinity was to bring the best of Disney storytelling to life in homes around the world, and with your support we accomplished that. We hope you had as much fun playing the game as we had making it.

Here at M&DAG headquarters, we’ve spent A LOT of money on the games and figures, but for the most part we’ve enjoyed the experience. It’s allowed all of our kids to get interested in video games (not just the boy), and it fostered interest in other world-building games, such as Minecraft.
